THERE'S STRENGTH IN OUR NUMBERS.

Partnership

Community Foundation of the Lowcountry (CFL) is a nonprofit organization whose purpose is to build and strengthen the four counties we serve: Beaufort, Colleton, Hampton, and Jasper. CFL works closely with local, impassioned donors who are motivated to address critical issues facing our region. As a result of taking its role seriously as a vital resource, CFL released the Community Indicators Report in fall of 2022. The report is a comprehensive data-driven publication that focuses on timely topics in the four counties such as Housing, Employment, Poverty, Education, Transportation, and the Environment. The report was distributed to nonprofits, government entities, the philanthropic community, residents, schools, and businesses, and the response we received was overwhelmingly positive.

Lowcountry Council of Governments (LCOG) is the regional government agency serving Beaufort, Colleton, Hampton, and Jasper Counties. LCOG works with local governments to identify and coordinate regional development, strengthen services, and cooperate for mutual benefit to best serve the citizens of the region. One such effort includes the People and the Economy of the Lowcountry Report, a socioeconomic data report offering a centralized location to learn more about the four-county region in terms of People, Education, Housing, Economy, Public Health, and Crime and Safety. The report, published annually and distributed to local governments, organizations, and agencies in the region for over 10 years, serves as base data for community measurement.

Following the success of these two reports, CFL and LCOG are excited to team up and initiate a new community indicator project, Lowcountry Community Indicators, a community indicators website that will be informative and beneficial to the user. The LCI consolidates the two reports and offers over 100 indicators, all supported by trusted, reliable sources and continually updated.

The initiative is based on the belief that community indicators with timely data allow readers, and the organizations they represent, to make more informed decisions about where the needs are and how resources should be allocated. We hope you spend time with our website and consider additional ways you can use the data to positively impact the Lowcountry region.
