Educational Attainment

This indicator examines educational attainment of the population age 25 and over at the full range of attainment levels, from no high school diploma to a graduate degree. According to the National Center for Education Statistics, higher educational attainment is associated with higher median earnings and higher employment rates. The educational attainment of the population in the Lowcountry can influence economic development, earning potential, and quality of life. Between 2000 and 2022, all counties saw an increase in population who hold a bachelor’s and graduate degrees.

Definition Educational Attainment:  The highest level of education completed in terms of the highest degree, or the highest level of schooling completed.
