School Enrollment

It is important for children to start their formal education early because they are constantly growing, adapting, and learning from their environment. Children attending preschool programs are more ready for kindergarten at the end of their preschool year than children who do not attend preschool. Learning disparities start with educational disparities, and children who are unprepared often do not catch up. As illustrated in the dashboard, only Hampton County saw a decrease in 3- and 4-year-old enrollment in both public and private schools, similar to that of the state.
